Writing...

Last night and tonight I managed to redo my Chapter 1 of Storm Warning. Some people could write a whole chapter in two evenings, but I'm slow and I am doing some major reworking.

Bath-time involved poop, so I was grateful I wasn't in there with them! DH took on all decontamination duties :D so all is forgiven for any outstanding grudges.

And I want advice... I want to buy my best friend (OK I have a few of them) something for her birthday. What's a good 38th birthday gift? She could do with cheering up so ideas please :)

  1. One would have to know more about said best friend before one could give any ideas worth while, wouldn't one.

  2. Hmm... Irish. Mother of two lovely boys. Slightly depressed and needing a lift, with a husband who is currently unemployed and could do with a slight kick up the arse.

Hmmm again... that is the problem with being a SAHM--you lose who you are. She's super intelligent, hard working, enthusiastic, funny. Has the voice of an angel and pretty green eyes. Loyal, warm, likes Baileys (a coincidence?). Head on her shoulders, but doesn't appreciate her abilities or talent. Not very sporty, except for walks and watching rugby, soccer ect. Very curly hair. Not skinny. Medium height, religious but made me lie to a priest!

  3. You're not the only slow writer. Take heart. I'm like Grandma Moses. Nobody is slower than me. ;-)

  4. ROTFL "made me lie to a priest"

First off - tell me how clever I am to figure you out!

That's a hard one. How much time do you have? Wait - what am I doing? Hit the email.

  5. I love that picture! When I turned 38 last year, I was hopelessly depressed as well. The best thing I did for myself was write a book. If she has a dream or goal for herself, give her a little something toward that goal to remind her who she really is. Not a SAHM and wife of unemployed hubby. Good luck to her and I hope she is able to find happiness once again.

  7. Oh I had all these plans of what I could anonymously ask you to buy me.... lol lots!

Depends on cost, ease of postage, timescale. 1) Flowers nearly always go down well especially if unusual - I could find a local florist near her home and arrange if you like (?) that would save on 'Interflora' and enable more to be spent on beautiful flora rather than mass delivery.. 2) Pamper packs - put together a hamper full of those favourite and naughty things that you don't usually buy for yourself.. 3) Plan ticket to Winterpeg! (only the one tho!) ;-)

  8. I say a scarf, Toni.

A beautifully vibrant color (her fav, of course) in that fuzzy yarn stuff (like Deb Macomber gave away at Nationals) and then you can let her know that every time she wraps it around herself, it's a hug from you because you're thinking of her often.

  9. oohh lots of good ideas. I need to devote myself to this and think. I did see some gorgeous clothes in the Boden online catalogue--in their sale. Yummy stuff but maybe a bit pricey. Hmm. I was thinking about and SEP and Jenny Crusie book--and I like the scarf idea too. Must think thunk think!

Deb--get depressed around March and I'll see what I can do ;-)

  12. Bet Me is great. Love that book. Normally, the combo of chocolate, Bailey's, and flowers goes good, if she doesn't have allergies to any of them. Depending on cost and her type of skin-hair, the combos of lotions-soaps-shampoos-oils can be pretty nice, too.

  13. Olga!! So nice to see you again :)

Actually skin type might be interesting--she blushes easily and hates it--I might investigate the antired stuff they have here, that they might not have back home.

They are my absolutely favorite. A good friend of mine sent them to me when my book came out.
