My Friend Deb

Happy Birthday to Deb

Happy Birthday to Deb

My oldest friend.

We met aged eleven at our new secondary school--that would be highschool for people from the New world (I think?). We were both from a small town across the river--where everybody else went to a different school, so I guess we were slight misfits in a way, outsiders. Anyway Deb was/is one of those gorgeous popular girls--so I grew up in the shadow of the gorgeous popular girl at school (LOL). We had the same form master and a really great form group of kids. A mixed bag from super-brainy kids to the scummy, raising themselves with no idea about the good side of life, kids. We both got on with all of them .

Deb was not to be bullied. There was this girl called Jane who fancied herself as quite the terror at aged eleven. Deb threw her in a cupboard and shut the door. Needless to say, neither of us were bullied ever again.

We discovered Dolly Parton together, spent many a Friday night watching Cheers. We definately got drunk together on many occassions and our favourite pub was The Golden Ball.
We didn't do many classes together outside our form, but for some reason we were pretty much inseperable. We had other friends, Alice especially, Karl and Darren (hopefully out of jail now), but I think our real bond was never touched.

Happy Birthday, you old codger :D

  3. Just read it, sob... Thanks matey - Love you. Not sure about the gorgeous popular bit, but like it!!! We did Maths and English together, which holds dear memories - more so than Miss Feeley who lost her short term memory for some time after getting hit on the head by a cricket ball! Not to mention Guy's parties, arhh those were the days.

Thanks again Toni, I am really touched. xx
