My Space

So what do newly published authors do on their weekends? Dinner? Champagne? Actually this newly published author tidied her office.

Yes, I work in a cupboard, but it serves two purposes. One it hides the mess, two it isolates the computer from little fingers.

OK--I'm still working on the shelves to the left. I have these gruesome police procedural books that need to be up high, but only fit on the lower shelf. They are not what I want my kids accidentally getting hold of until they turn thirty! So trying to rearrange those.

So what does this room tell you about me? Anything??

  2. It tells me you live in a cupboard.

Actually, it says you are very organized and put me to shame. I'm working on it - after today's session Bebo has gone looking for the pods :)

  3. It tells me you have shoved EVERYTHING into the cupboard, including DD and DS, plus the dogs, then shut the door on it all!! You don't fool me Toni. ;-)

  4. LOL--funny you should mention that Deb.

Dennie--must be some psycology at play?

Eve--pods? Are you an alien now?? Or is Bebo looking for aliens?

  5. Very nice and neat. An organized writer.

  6. No - she just thinks aliens have taken over my body because I'm cleaning. She even had the gall to come up to me last night, put her hand on my forehead and check for a fever. Just because you can see my floor? Really :)

  7. Hi there - congratulations on the publication. I have ebook readers on my pocket pc, but my pocket pc died a while ago and I'm missing it incredibly.

Thought I'd drop by and post a comment so that you're less shy about commenting on mine - I'm delighted that you read it, by the way. :o)

What does this room say about you? Well, I would have come up with something more accurate seeing it *before* you tidied it. But it at least looks as though you yearn to be organised, and the blue colour on the wall is usually quite calming. This tells me you're a mad, disorganised writer. :o)

  8. I think you're more organized than me at this point! :-)

  9. Eve, LOL. I don't know who to feel more sorry for, you or Bebo!

Diane--thanks for commenting :) I think you may be right on the mad and disorganised.

Actually no, all I really did was thin things down. Free up book space (previously occupied by a giant ceramic frog I stole off my mother and a soapstone carving of an inuit towing a dead seal. OK subject matter might not appeal to everyone but it is beautiful :)

Those are back on my livingroom shelves.

Deb is right though, my desk is a mess and needs sorting out. Oh well. Spring break and no family nearby...weep.

OK. This room tells me I love Ikea and love the color blue (really must ditch the pink on the landing upstairs. I wonder if I started painting would Dh finish it for me??? Or maybe wallpaper. :/

  10. NO WALLPAPER! You must resist! Back away from the wallpaper! hehehe. Don't worry, I'm getting counseling for my wallpaper issues. ;)

This picture of your office tells me that you have nice bookshelves. I want some. Ikea, you say? Must get thee to an Ikea. Sveeedish for common sense, right?

  11. Meretta--actually the cupboard desk and matching shelves are Ikea, the pine shelves Home Depot and the little pine bookcase Jysk (do you have a Jysk in Alberta?).

But I LOVE Ikea. I am going to browse in Glasgow when I go home :D

  12. Thought I saw Ikea in that picture (we have 3 of them within a 50 mile radius). You are very neat. I wish I were neat. And you have lots of books.

  14. Rene and Brandy--I try to be neat! But paper just piles up!!! Most of those shelves are doubled up with books. And I have more travel and history books in the Living room--and all my art books and big coffee table photo books. Sigh. Too many books!!!!

  15. Blasphemous! There are never too many books (fervently looking around for book police).
