End of an Era

Last day of Kindy today and it is so sad because DD has the BEST teacher ever!

Sniff.

Having moved around so much, we have done many last days. Last day Australian kindy, last day Play Group Scotland, last day nursery Scotland, last day of Pre-K Canada. I am not sure my daughter worries about it much anymore.

But there will be tears tomorrow :( Wish me luck!!!

  1. Here's wishing you luck. Poor baby, it's hard to leave a good teacher.

  2. My son had the best teacher in the world. Sorry, but it's true. She has children in her class that are the children of children she has taught, and she still looks beautiful. To boot, she has girl of her own that is movie star gorgeous. It is sad to have to move on.

  3. Appreciate the last day bit too - Ross is moving on to secondary this year (no never he can't be!) so that will certainly be an end to an era. Good luck DD - and you Toni ;-)

  5. Ah, I felt the same way on my dd's last day of kindergarten. Much to my joy, her teacher took a K-1 class the next year. As the year ended this year, the teacher and I discussed where my daugther would go next year. Right before school ended, her teacher found out she was teaching a k-1-2 class next year. Yahoo!!!! (yes, my daughter will be in it).

  6. I know just how you feel, Toni - my kids had two fabulous years with a phenomenal special ed teacher at the best elementary school in Barrie - the school board closed the program down and shipped the kids every which way off to other schools in the city. The parents were even more upset than the kids, and the teacher got a 4/5 class of regular kids in a school near her home. But, she still missed special ed, which was her specialty. To this day, our kids have never had such a fantastic teacher, or learned as much as they did in those two years with her. "The end of an era" can come at any time in your kid's school life, not just at Kindy time! Although, now that I think of it, in Kindy-Grade 1 they both had a great teacher, but they were in an "integrated" program which meant she was a great teacher anyway, and they were expected just to colour at the back of the class....
