Quack

Am I the only person to think is a little weird.... link

I mean, if you shot the damn duck, why would you take it to a vet just because it wasn't actually dead?

I remember finding an injured duck outside our house once, when we were on the way to school. I guess we were about 15 and full of BS. Anyway me and Deb walked into our form room excitedly explaining how we'd found a duck walking down the road bleeding and we'd had to rescue it. We'd made a nest for the poor thing in the downstairs bathroom, but the teacher didn't want to know. She'd pretty much had enough of us by then. Poor woman. I'd like to think I wasn't as bad as I know I was for Miss Williams, but deep down, I know I'm lying.

  2. Yikes -- I think this was a case of Hunter versus Wife. My bet is wife took duck to vet.

  3. I read about this earlier today. It was the wife who took it to the vet and the husband who shot it. Man, my stomach is flipping every time I think of this poor duck!!

BTW, is it really Tues where you are, Toni?! Or, worse yet, did I go and miss Monday again, putting in the long writing hours I've been putting in?? It's 10 pm here in Alberta, which makes it what time where you are? If it's really Tues, my kids missed hockey tonight. Great...

  4. The hunter thought the duck was dead, put it in the freezer, and two days later the wife opened the door and the duck raised it's head. Seems this duck playes possum a lot and the vet said that the hunter couldn't have known it was still alive when it was put in there. I want to know how it survived two days in a freezer.

Oooh, ooooh, I caught the last 45 minutes of BJD on TV the other day. Intrigued me enough that I looked for the video at the bookstore, we have it, I have it - but I haven't watched it yet. Colin Firth is a cutie.

  7. Poor duck! I'm glad my DH doesn't hunt fowl! I can totally see something like this happening to me.

  8. How could Miss Williams not believe the duck story - maybe because it was preceded by not doing homework because your sister 'nearly' had a baby; or we did our homework but left it in Devon...! ha ha
